Directed by Russell Mack, Lonely Wives is a sparkling pre-Code farce that relies heavily on the comedic dexterity of its lead, Edward Everett Horton. However, the plan falls apart spectacularly when Richard's wife decides to stay home, leaving the impersonator to navigate the awkward intimacies of a marriage he knows nothing about.

While Lonely Wives was not a contender for major Academy Awards, it remains a significant piece of cinema history for its daring, risqué humor that would soon be banned by the Hays Code. It is this saucy, suggestive dialogue that compels fans of vintage comedy to Watch Lonely Wives today. The film captures a loose, playful morality that is distinct to the early 1930s.
